Peer support is a wonderful thing :-)
I had the great privilege today of attending a funeral that my wonderful colleague Paula McDonnell led. She is an incredible civil Celebrant and even though I didn't know the deceased personally, I certainly knew what a wonderful person she was by the end of the service.
And that's what a good Celebrant should do, leave you feeling that you have learnt that little bit more about your beloved or celebrated in their full life and be given the chance to reflect.
It's an honour to call her my friend. Well done Paula, you did the family, the Funeral Directors and yourself proud.
This complimentary post was written by Anna Bushell - friend and fellow Celebrant. She came along to support me and be a comforting presence for my first large service at Grenoside Crematorium. There's more than enough business for Celebrants and supporting, encouraging and sharing is the way to go. Behaviour drives behaviour - never forget xx
