About Me

I am now in my 50s and whether I wanted to or not, I’ve experienced one heck of a lot so far in my life! What is it that Ronan Keating sang about life being a roller coaster…...?!

• I love meeting people from all walks of life and have a restless curiosity which is not the same as being nosey!

• I love writing and finding out about someone’s life story and what makes them who they are and the impact they have on others or who has influenced them.

• I love celebrating because it is our memories that sustain us and should be treasured whilst we are making them.

• I love making people laugh!

Added to which, I’ve been married since 1998, a mum to my two sons and my dog, progressed a varied career, cared for my family, dealt with serious illnesses both of others and my own, experienced loss and grief, treasured time with family and friends, and completed a few charity bike rides; I’ve packed plenty in so far and plan to continue to do so as I grow older!

Put all that together and I realised that it was a celebrant’s life for me because my experiences in life have given me a much deeper knowledge, understanding and empathy towards people and situations.

​

When I asked people who know me well to describe me, they came back with; welcoming, patient, funny, creative, dedicated, empathetic and an amazing listener.

​

Getting to know someone takes time, so I thought I may share some mantras with you which resonate strongly with me and can give you an idea of what is important to me:

• Treasure your memories while you are making them

• One day you will be just a memory to someone, do your best to be a good one

• Judging others says more about you than it does about them

• Comparison is the thief of joy

• Dress for the kind of day you want to have!

• Laughter is sunshine; it chases winter from the human face :-)

Being able to meet people and work with them during life’s key moments is a privilege in my book and one which demands great care and commitment.
